Update on msnNOW

An announcement from the msnNOW team

By MSN Team Nov 6, 2013 12:08PM
msnNOW launched with the goal of making it easy to discover the stories people are searching for and talking about the most. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed presenting this irresistibly viral content – ranging from binders full of women to buckets full of animals – to our large and loyal audience.

However, as part of our ongoing work to fine-tune our editorial mix, we’ve decided that msnNOW will stop publishing on December 3, 2013. Rather than having a single home for trending content, we will continue integrating that material throughout all MSN channels.

We’ve learned a lot by successfully curating the most interesting stories in real time using msnNOW. We intend to build on what we’ve learned as we partner with some of the world’s leading content brands in the future.

A big thank you to everyone who read and shared msnNOW stories, and to our dedicated community of commenters. We hope msnNOW fans will stay with us for this final month, and for those who love unusual news, watch for more details about a new section on MSN News dedicated to offbeat stories, coming soon.

Are you freaking kidding me?! msnNOW is my favorite source of trending news! The witty writing, the great content and of course, the cat videos are part of my daily entertainment routine. And now its shutting down?!

I've been asking for a NOW Windows Phone app for ages now. The least you could do is continue to aggregate the trending news to one source/RSS feed and develop an app for it.

Where exactly am I going to get my trending news from after December 3rd?!
Apparently no one reads this blog. However, if you go to MSN NOW you will find dozens, sometimes hundreds of comments.

I'm extremely sad and shocked, this was hands down the best trending information on the web. I would actually pay a subscription cost to access this information. What a sad and horrible move. There is nothing that is actually useful in the trending category anymore, it's all just hashed garbage instead of what is really going on and what people are searching for. Where do we find something similar or pay for this information!?

You should not have fixed something that  was not broken. A LOT of folks  enjoyed this column and checked

in several times a day( I and countless others).  We had one site  to go to find  interesting, moral, and funny,  sad, crazy, tear inducing, and many other genres of news that we actually looked forward to. Now it's  gone. )Thanks for nothing.

I hope your new section on MSN News that is dedicated to offbeat stories WON'T allow comments. The silly question & answer methodology brought out the trolls, and they really made the section annoying. I look forward to seeing how this will play out on the new section.
